EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Lake Mills Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action at Bruce Rholl Field at Greenwood Park. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 3-14, while Lake Mills entered at 10-5.
Eagle Grove would pounce on the Bulldogs early, scoring 4 runs in the 1st off an error, a Jackson Babcock 2-run RBI single and a passed ball as the Eagles took a 4-0 lead after one. The Eagles then doubled up on their lead in the 2nd on a Gavin Pedersen RBI fielder’s choice, a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and a Keegan Eisentrager 2-run RBI single to put Eagle Grove up 9-0. The Eagles added a run in the 3rd off a passed ball, before Lake Mills got on the board with a run in the top of the 4th to make it 9-1. Eagle Grove answered with 2 more runs in the 4th off an error and a bases-loaded walk as the Eagles shut down Lake Mills in the 5th for an 11-1, 5-inning victory.
Trenton Robinson was the winning pitcher, going 5 innings and allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 2. Jackson Babcock went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI, as Keegan Eisentrager went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Thursday, when they host the Manson-Northwest Webster Cougars in a non-conference matchup at Bruce Rholl Field, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
