Eagle Grove softball downs Lake Mills at home, 10-2

EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Lake Mills Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 13-7, while Lake Mills entered at 2-14.

After a scoreless first, Lake Mills took the initial lead with a run in the 2nd to go up 1-0. However, Eagle Grove responded with a big bottom of the 2nd with 6 runs on a Lily Locke RBI double, a wild pitch, a passed ball, a Holly Anderson 2-run RBI double and a 2nd error as the Eagles took a 6-1 lead. Lake Mills would get another run up in the 3rd, but Eagle Grove would score 4 runs in the 4th off a wild pitch, an error and a Salem Willard 2-run RBI double as the Eagles would close out a 10-2, 5-inning victory.

Johanna Flores-Baez picked up the win in the circle, going 5 innings and allowing 2 runs (1 earned) off 7 hits and striking out 5. Holly Anderson would go 1-for-3 with 2 RBI, while Salem Willard went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Thursday, as they host (2A) #15 Pocahontas Area in non-conference action at Greenwood Park with first pitch at 6 PM.
