(2A) #2 Roland-Story dominates HOIAC doubleheader with Perry

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the Perry Bluejays in a Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 21-1 and ranked #2 in Class 2A, as Perry entered at 6-9.

The Norsemen started things with off with a bang, scoring 4 runs in the first off an Aiden Frey lead-off home run, a Colin Willis RBI single, a Chance Georgius RBI double and a Derek Acevedo RBI double to put Roland-Story ahead 4-0. Roland-Story then blew the game open in the 3rd with 12 runs behind a Derek Acevedo sac fly, a Gavin Jeter 2RBI double, a Cooper Triggs RBI double, a Cael Faber RBI single, a bases-loaded walk, a Braden Wallace RBI single, a Derek Acevedo RBI double, a Gavin Jeter 2-run RBI double and a Cooper Triggs 2-run home run, as Roland-Story would cruise to a 16-0 Game 1 victory in 4 innings.

Gavin Griffith was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings and allowing no runs on 1 hit and struck out 3. Derek Acevedo would go 2-for-2 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI, as Cooper Triggs was 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI, while Aiden Frey was 3-for-3 with a home run.

Game 2 saw Roland-Story start the demolition early behind a 14-run first inning, as the Norsemen scored on a wild pitch, an error, a Chance Georgius RBI single, a Braden Wallace sac fly, a passed ball, a Cooper Triggs RBI triple, an Aiden Frey RBI single, a Cael Faber RBI single, a Colin Willis RBI single, a Braden Wallace 2-run RBI double, a 2nd wild pitch, a Derek Acevedo RBI single and a Cooper Triggs RBI single as the Norsemen lead 14-0. Roland-Story would add a run in the 3rd on an Emmet Lundgren RBI ground out, as Roland-Story clinched a 15-0, 4-inning victory.

Reece Blaisdell was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings and allowing no runs on 2 hits and striking out 7. Braden Wallace would go 1-for-1 with a double and 3 RBI, as Cooper Triggs went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI and a triple.
