Webster City softball downs Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in 6 innings, 11-3

CLARION, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls softball teams returned to action on Wednesday night, as the two NCC rivals faced off with one another at CGD High School. Webster City entered at 8-8, as CGD entered at 1-13.

Webster City would strike first, scoring on a Morgan Tempel sac fly, as CGD answered in the bottom of the frame with 3 runs off a Kinlee Nail RBI single and a Harper Nerlien 2-run RBI single as the Cowgirls led 3-1. Webster City would take the lead back in the 2nd on a wild pitch, a Haydin Sealine RBI groundout and a Hayden McCoy sac fly as the Lynx took a 4-3 lead. The Lynx then added onto their lead in the innings following; adding 2 runs in the 3rd off an error and a Jaylyn Bahrenfuss RBI single, with 2 more runs in the 4th on a Hayden McCoy RBI single and an error, with 3 runs scoring in the 5th on a Jaylyn Bahrenfuss RBI groundout, a Hayden McCoy RBI single and an Alivia Burns RBI single, as Webster City closed out an 11-3, 6-inning win.

Jakaela Cherry was the winning pitcher, going 5 innings and allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits and striking out 6. Hayden McCoy would go 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, as Jaylyn Bahrenfuss went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

Addy Howell took the loss in the circle, pitching 5 innings and allowing 11 runs (6 earned) on 7 hits, as Harper Nerlien went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI, as Kinlee Nail went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Webster City softball returns to action on Thursday, as they travel to Pocahontas to take on Pocahontas Area, with first pitch at 7:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball returns to action on Thursday, as they host the South Hamilton Hawks in non-conference action, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
