Eagle Grove baseball downs North Iowa on Bruce Rholl dedication night, 11-4

EAGLE GROVE, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the North Iowa Bison in Top of Iowa West action at Bruce Rholl Field at Greenwood Park. Eagle Grove entered at 2-8, as North Iowa also entered at 2-8.

Before the game, Eagle Grove honored late coach Bruce Rholl with the official dedication of the field in the name of the man who led the Eagles to the 2002 Class 2A State Championship. North Iowa would jump on the Eagles early with 3 runs in the top of the first to take a 3-0 lead, but Eagle Grove responded with a big two-out rally with 4 runs on an error, a Leelan Spencer 2-run RBI single and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to take a 4-3 lead after the first. Eagle Grove would add a run in the 2nd off an error, as North Iowa got a run back in the 3rd as the Eagles led 5-3 after 3 innings. The score would remain until the 6th, when Eagle Grove blew the doors off the game with 6 runs off a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch, a Leelan Spencer RBI single, a Keegan Eisentrager 2-run RBI single and a Jace Olson 2-run RBI double, as Eagle Grove would coast to an 11-4 victory.

Gavin Pedersen was the winning pitcher, going all 7 innings and allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits and struck out 5. Leelan Spencer went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, while Keegan Eisentrager was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored.

Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Monday, when they host the Forest City Indians in Top of Iowa West action at Bruce Rholl Field, with first pitch slated for 7:30 PM.
