(2A) #2 Roland-Story baseball wins rain-shortened affair with Grand View Christian, 11-4

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Grand View Christian Thunder in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 16-1 and ranked #2 in Class 2A, while Grand View Christian entered at 6-3.

Grand View Christian would bring the thunder early on, with 3 runs in the first inning off a pair of home runs, as the Thunder led 3-0. Roland-Story answered with a run on a Chance Georgius RBI single in the first, before an offensive explosion of 7 runs in the 2nd behind a Cael Faber RBI single, a Chance Georgius grand slam and a Jake Knoll 2-run home run to put the Norsemen ahead 8-3. GVC answered with a solo home run in the 3rd, before Roland-Story added 2 more runs off RBI ground outs from Colin Willis and Chance Georgius to make the score 10-4. Roland-Story added a run in the bottom of the 5th on another Colin Willis RBI groundout to make it 11-4, before weather moved in and ended the opening game early, and postponed Game 2 of the doubleheader to a later date.

Colin Willis picked up the win in the circle, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and striking out 8 in 5 innings, as Chance Georgius had a monster day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a grand slam and 6 RBI, as Jake Knoll went 1-for-3 with a 2-run home run.

Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to LeGrand to take on the East Marshall Mustangs in a non-conference doubleheader with Game 1 at 5 PM.
