BANCROFT, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip into Kossuth County to take on the North Union Warriors at the Bancroft Memorial Baseball Field. Eagle Grove entered at 1-7, while North Union entered at 6-5.
Eagle Grove would put up 3 runs in the first off a Trenton Robinson RBI double, a passed ball and a Keegan Eisentrager RBI single, but North Union answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 3-3. Eagle Grove added 4 more runs in the 2nd on a bases-loaded walk, a Trenton Robinson 2-run RBI double and an error, as North Union responded with 4 runs of their own to tie the game at 7-7 after 2 innings. The Eagles then scored a run each in the 3rd and 4th on a passed ball and a bases-loaded walk to take a 9-7 lead, as North Union rallied for 4 runs in the 5th to take an 11-9 lead. Eagle Grove answered in the 6th with 4 runs off 2 errors and an Adrian Whipple 2-run RBI single to take a 13-11 lead, only to be rebuffed by 3 Warrior runs in the 6th as North Union took a 14-13 lead. Eagle Grove then had the final say, scoring 3 runs in the 7th off a Keegan Eisentrager RBI double, a Jackson Babcock RBI double and a passed ball as Eagle Grove would come away with a wild, 16-14 win.
Hayden Schafer would be the winning pitcher, pitching an inning in relief, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits and struck out 1. Trenton Robinson would go 2-for-5 with a double and 3 RBI, while Adrian Whipple went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Thursday night, as they travel to Manly to take on the Central Springs Panthers in non-conference action, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
