JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks softball team opened their 2026 season on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Nevada Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex at South Hamilton High School.
South Hamilton started the night off well, scoring on a passed ball in the top of the first to take an initial 1-0 lead. Nevada then answered with 4 runs in the 2nd, as the Hawks got a run back in the 3rd off an error to cut the score to 4-2. However, Nevada put up 2 more runs in the 3rd to make it 6-2, riding pitching the rest of the way in a 6-2 victory.
Emma Lammers took the loss in the circle, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and striking out 3, as Emma Ammerman and Ellie Beaune were the only Hawks to record hits on Tuesday night.
South Hamilton softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Des Moines to take on the Grand View Christian Thunder in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Des Moines Hoover High School, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
