FOREST CITY, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Tuesday evening, as they made the trip to Winnebago County to take on the Forest City Indians in Top of Iowa West action at Alford Buckley Field.
Eagle Grove would strike first in the top of the first, as 2 Indian errors allowed a run to score and put the Eagles up 1-0, before a Brenna Grandgeorge RBI groundout put Eagle Grove ahead 2-0. From there, defensive lapses unraveled the game for the Eagles, as 2 errors in the 2nd allowed Forest City to take a 3-2 lead, before an error in the 4th eventually led to a run and a 4-2 Indians lead. Forest City added 2 more runs in the 5th and a run in the 6th to take an 8-2 lead, as the Eagle Grove bats were unable to cut into the deficit further in an 8-2 defeat.
Mya Morgan picked up the loss in the circle, pitching 5 innings and allowing 8 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits and striking out 7, while also going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they host the West Hancock Eagles in Top of Iowa West action with first pitch at 6 PM.
