CHARLES CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx girls soccer team returned to action on Monday afternoon, as they made the trip into northeast Iowa to take on the Charles City Comets in North Central Conference action at Charles City High School. Webster City entered at 6-7-1, as Charles City entered at 3-8-2.
Webster City would dominate the match from the start, putting up 6 goals in the opening half to take a 6-0 halftime lead. The Lynx kept their foot on the gas in the 2nd half to come away with a resounding 9-0 victory.
Senior Janey Putney had a career-night, scoring 6 goals in the victory, as fellow senior Jayme Perez tallied 5 assists. Other scorers for Webster City included Sandra Fuentes-Cruz, Kendra Schultz and Carmen Santiago. Junior goalkeeper Megan VanDeer recorded 2 saves in the match.
Webster City girls soccer returns to action on Thursday, when they host the Fort Dodge Dodgers in non-conference action at Lynx Field, with kickoff at 5:30 PM.
