Webster City girls soccer shuts out Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, 3-0

WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx girls soccer team returned to action on Thursday evening, as they hosted the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in North Central Conference action at Lynx Field in Webster City. The Lynx entered with a record of 5-7-1, while GHV entered at 9-3-1.

Thursday’s first half would be defensively dominant, with both sides pitching zeros for the first forty minutes with the score tied at halftime. In the 2nd half, it was a Webster City breakthrough as the Lynx put up 3 goals courtesy of Janey Putney, Jayme Perez and Sandra-Fuentes Cruz as the Lynx upset GHV by a 3-0 final.

Perez and Putney each added assists for the Lynx, as junior Megan VanDeer had 3 saves on the night at goalkeeper.

Webster City girls soccer returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Charles City to take on the Comets in their North Central Conference finale, with kickoff at 5:30 PM.
