Story City-A former Roland-Story Middle School teacher is facing criminal charges after he was allowed to resign three months ago. 25-year-old Colden Carlson is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee, assault with intent to commit sex abuse and lascivious conduct with a minor. The Roland-Story school board accepted Carlson’s resignation on February 16th in lieu of termination. At the time, the district said Carlson was investigated and found to have engaged in unauthorized and inappropriate social media and other conduct/communication with students. Carlson taught sixth-grade social studies at the time. Court records say Carlson kissed a sixth-grade student, touched her inappropriately, invited her on trips to Hawaii and even showed up at her home during early morning hours. There is a now a no-contact order for Carlson. He has a preliminary hearing in Story County District Court next Friday, May 22nd.
