WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track and field teams returned to action on Thursday evening, as the Lynx hosted the annual North Central Conference Girls Championships at Bob Buckley Track at Webster City High School. The Lynx and Cowgirls were joined by Algona, Charles City, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.
Webster City would place 3rd in the meet with a total of 107 points, as the Lynx crowned a handful of champions on Thursday. The Lynx sprint medley would open with a win in a new school-record time of 1:50.83 with the quartet of Hartnett-Weinschenk-Hansen-Grossoehme, before the Lynx won the shuttle hurdle title in a season-best time of 1:10.77 with the team of VanDeer-Hartnett-Wright-Hansen. Izzy Grossoehme capped the night with a win in the 400m dash, running a lifetime-best mark of 58.91 seconds.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 9th in the meet with a total of 15 points, as the Cowgirls top placer was junior Adelynn Howell, who finished 3rd in the high jump by clearing 4′ 10″. Audrey Egland would place 4th in the 400m dash in a time of 1:05.17, as the Cowgirls 4×100 was 6th in a time of 55.84 with the team of Matul-Howell-Tijull Villatoro-Egland.
Webster City girls track and field returns to action on Thursday, when they run in their Class 3A State Qualifying Meet at Lions Field in Clear Lake, beginning at 4 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track returns to action on Monday, when they compete at the Nevada Girls Invitational, beginning at 4:30 PM.
