Webster City boys track places 4th, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows finishes 8th at NCC’s in Algona

ALGONA, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track and field teams returned to action on Thursday evening, as they competed in the annual North Central Conference Championships at Bulldog Stadium. The Lynx and Cowboys, were joined by the hosts Algona, as well as Charles City, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.

Webster City placed 4th in the meet with a total of 82 points, crowning a couple of champions on Friday, as the Lynx 4×800 won in a season-best time of 8:40.45 with the team of Thumma-Draeger-Barner-Murillo Delfin. Daniel Murillo-Delfin then captured an individual title in the 800m run, winning in a time of 2:06.02. Lynx senior Justin Callahan did not win an event, but set a new school-record in the 400m dash, placing 3rd in a time of 49.43, while also finishing runner-up in the 400m hurdles in a lifetime-best mark 55.29 seconds.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed 8th in the meet with a total of 38 points, as the Cowboys top placer was junior Huxley Lingenfelter, who placed 3rd in the discus with a throw of 149′ 4″. The Cowboys shuttle hurdle would place 3rd in a season-best time of 1:07.18 with the quartet of Rivera-Downing-Lingenfelter-Duncalf. Colin Sesker would place 4th in the high jump by clearing 5′ 10″, as Logan Torsell placed 5th in the 800m run with a lifetime-best mark of 2:09.32.

Webster City boys track returns to action on Thursday, when they run their Class 3A State Qualifying Meet at Lions Field in Clear Lake, beginning at 4 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track returns to action on Thursday, when they run in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Dallas Kray Track in Story City, beginning at 4 PM.
