Webster City boys golf places runner-up, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows finishes 7th at NCC Meet

MASON CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys golf teams returned to action on Thursday, as they competed in the North Central Conference Tournament at Legacy Golf Course in Mason City. The Lynx and Cowboys were joined by Algona, Charles City, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.

Webster City would place 2nd in the meet with a team score of 313 (+25), just 2 strokes behind NCC Champion Clear Lake. Junior Coyce Bertran finished as the meet runner-up by shooting a 74 (+2), as senior Dawson Bertran placed 8th and shot a 77 (+5). Junior Dylan Schroeder placed 12th and shot an 81 (+9), as senior Matt Tesdahl placed 14th and also shot an 81 (+9) to round out scoring. Other scorers for the Lynx saw Syrus Willard shoot an 85 (+13) and Eian Becker shoot a 95 (+23).

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed 7th with a team score of 380 (+92), as their top placer was sophomore Teddy Yackle, who placed 33rd and shot a 92 (+20). Senior Tristan Kakacek placed 37th and shot a 94 (+22), sophomore Jacob Ruba placed 39th and shot a 95 (+23), as freshman Preston Gniadecki placed 45th and shot a 99 (+27). Other scorers saw Crew Garza shoot a 100 (+28) and Adam Hodson shoot a 102 (+30).

Webster City boys golf returns to action on Friday, when they compete at the Elite Showdown at Legacy Golf Course in Mason City. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys golf returns to action on Wednesday, when they host their Class 2A Sectional at Clarmond Country Club, beginning at 10 AM.
