ARMSTRONG, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles boys and girls track and field teams returned to action on Thursday, as they competed in the Top of Iowa West Conference Meet at North Union High School in Armstrong. The Eagles were joined by the host Warriors, as well as Belmond-Klemme, Bishop Garrigan, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Lake Mills, North Iowa and West Hancock.
Eagle Grove’s boys placed 9th, as the Eagles finished with 42 points. The Eagles top placer was senior Leelan Spencer, who finished 2nd in the 100m dash in a time of 11.53 seconds, as Spencer also placed 3rd in the 200m dash in a time of 23.60 seconds. Gavin Pedersen placed 3rd in the discus with a throw of 136′ 3″, as the Eagles 4×100 placed 4th in a time of 45.71 with the team of Thacker-Eisentrager-Pedersen-Spencer.

Eagle Grove’s girls placed 9th, as they finished with 14 points. The Eagles top placer was sophomore Myka Anderson, who finished 4th in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:14.93, as Anderson placed 8th in the 100m hurdles in a time of 18.50 seconds.
Eagle Grove track and field returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Dallas Kray Track in Story City, beginning at 4 PM.
