BELMOND, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Wright County Broncos boys soccer teams returned to action on Monday evening, as the two programs faced one another in North Central Conference action at Belmond-Klemme High School. Webster City entered at 5-1-2, as Wright County entered at 10-0-3.
The first 20 minutes of Monday’s match would be ruled by defense, but Wright County finally broke through in the 21st minute on a goal from Anir Akdim to put the Broncos up 1-0. Wright County would tack on to their lead before halftime off a Jorge Luis Guzman goal in the 33rd minute to give the Broncos a 2-0 halftime lead.
Webster City would have the strong northwest wind at their back in the 2nd half, but could not convert on the opportunities for open looks. Wright County would add another insurance goal in the 64th minute from Jerry Hernandez as the Broncos held serve for a 3-0 victory.
Wright County boys soccer returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Humboldt to take on the Wildcats at Mason Maach Field, beginning at 5:30 PM. Webster City boys soccer returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action at Lynx Field, with kickoff at 5:30 PM.
