ALLEMAN, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks track and field teams returned to action on Monday evening, as they competed in the North Polk Co-Ed Meet at Comet Stadium. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by the host Comets, as well as Bondurant-Farrar, Greene County, Johnston, Nevada and PCM.
Roland-Story’s girls won the meet with a total of 148 points, as the Norse crowned a number of winners, with the first coming in the 3000m run as Kara Patterson took first with a time of 12:23.70. The Norse then won the shuttle hurdle in a time of 1:11.64 with the team of M. Helgeson-Scarrow-Jondle-S. Helgeson, as Karsyn Lande followed by winning the 400m dash in a time of 1:05.33. Wins then followed in the 4×200 in a time of 1:54.96 with the team of Jondle-Janes-Bennett-Carlson, as Taylor Rechkemmer then took the 100m hurdles in a season-best time of 15.92 seconds. Maddi Lucas then grabbed the final win in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:13.04.

South Hamilton’s girls placed 4th with a total of 91 points, as the Hawks claimed 2 field event wins. Junior Tessa Skartvedt won the shot put with a throw of 36′ 4.5″, while Izzy Swenson won the high jump by clearing 5′ 0″. The Hawks also got 2nd place finishes from Dayton Ferrie in the discus, with a throw of 99′ 10″, while Bianca Seaton was 2nd in the 800m run in a time of 2:55.08.
Roland-Story’s boys placed 3rd with a total of 108 points, as the Norse claimed 1 victory in the long jump, as Cody Long won with a mark of 20′ 1.75″. Cael Paulson placed 2nd in the high jump by clearing 5′ 6″, as the Norse sprint medley placed 2nd in a time of 1:39.00 with the team of Kilstofte-Triggs-Strum-Billerbeck. Roland-Story placed 2nd in the 4×800 in a time of 9:05.03 with the team of Lucchesi-Gabler-Dahlsten-Willis, which was followed by a 2nd place finish in the 4×200 in a time of 1:37.25 with the team of Triggs-McIllrath-Miskell-Billerbeck.
South Hamilton placed 6th with 64 points, as they claimed 1 winner in the 3200m run, as junior Jesus Garcia won in a time of 10:41.41. Wyatt Gelder placed 2nd in the 100m dash in a season-best mark of 11.30 seconds, as Kash Northrop placed 3rd in the 400m dash in 58.14 seconds. Ben Swenson would place 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 46′ 6″.
Roland-Story and South Hamilton track return to action on Thursday, when they compete in the Heart of Iowa Conference Championships at Linduska Field in Jefferson, beginning at 4:30 PM.
