Roland-Story boys track claims title, South Hamilton and CGD boys compete in Norsemen Relays

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norsemen, South Hamilton Hawks and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track and field teams returned to action on Thursday evening, as Roland-Story hosted their annual Norsemen Relays at Dallas Kray Track. The Norsemen, Hawks and Cowboys were joined by Ankeny, Aplington-Parkersburg, Ballard, Denver, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Nevada, North Polk, Ogden and Woodward Academy.

Roland-Story would claim the meet title with a total of 142 points, as Cody Long jump started things with a win in the long jump, tying a season-best mark of 21′ 7.5″. Corben Lucchesi then won the 3200m run in a time of 10:13.24, as Tristen Crabbs followed with a lifetime-best run in the 100m dash, winning in 11.00 seconds. Roland-Story then won the 4×200 in a time of 1:32.64, before Jayden Strum won the 110m High Hurdles in 14.66 seconds. Tristen Crabbs would win the 200m dash in a time of 22.46 seconds, before Jayden Strum gave the Norse their final win of the night in the 400m hurdles, in a time of 56.25 seconds.

South Hamilton would place 8th with 35 points, as the Hawks had a pair of winners on Thursday. Senior Titus Herrick won the discus with a best throw of 143′ 7″, while sophomore Ben Swenson would win the shot put with a throw of 45′ 6″. The Hawks best finish on the track saw junior Jesus Garcia place 5th in the 800m run in a time of 2:11.77.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 9th with a total of 31 points, as the Cowboys top placer was junior Huxley Lingenfelter, who finished 2nd in the discus with a throw of 142′ 1″. Charlie Campbell made his returns from injury on Thursday, and placed 4th in the 100m dash in a lifetime-best mark of 11.34 seconds. The Cowboys 4×100 would place 4th in a time of 45.54 seconds with the team of Downing-Campbell-Hernandez Ordonez-Sesker.

Roland-Story and South Hamilton boys track return to action on Monday, when they compete at the North Polk Co-Ed meet in Alleman, beginning at 4:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in the North Central Conference boys meet in Algona, beginning at 4:30 PM.
