JEWELL, Ia. — The South Hamilton Hawks, Roland-Story Norse, Eagle Grove Eagles and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track and field teams returned to action on Tuesday afternoon, as South Hamilton hosted the George Abell Hawkette Relays at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex. The Hawks, Norse, Eagles and Cowgirls were joined by Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Northwood-Kensett and South Hardin.
Roland-Story emerged as the meet champion with 176 points and a number of victories. Kara Patterson would win the 3000m run in a time of 11:59.58, as the Norse followed by winning the 4×800 in a time of 10:56.51 with the team of Peterson-Haberl-Long-Larson. A victory in the shuttle hurdle followed, with the Norse winning in 1:11.52 with the team of T. Rechkemmer-M. Helgeson-L. Rechkemmer-S. Helgeson, as Roland-Story then won the 4×200 in a time of 1:54.70 with the team of Reitano-Lucas-Lande-Scarrow. Sophie Bates then won the 1500m run in a time of 5:37.30 to round out winners for the Norse.

South Hamilton placed 3rd with a total of 109 points, as they also had a number of meet champions, with Izzy Swenson winning the high jump by clearing 4′ 10″. Tessa Skartvedt would win the shot put with a throw of 37′ 1″, as Dayton Ferrie would win the discus with a throw of 103′ 5″. The Hawks then won the distance medley in a time of 4:52.99 with the team of Doolittle-Gibson-Trask-Hebnes to give them their final victory on the night.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed 6th with 17 points, as the top placer for the Cowgirls was Audrey Egland, who finished 3rd in the 400m dash in a time of 1:08.24, as Adelynn Howell placed 4th in the high jump by clearing 4′ 8″. The Cowgirls 4×100 placed 4th in a time of 57.05 with the team of Schaffer-Howell-Matul-Egland.
Eagle Grove placed 7th with 16 points, as their top placer was Myka Anderson, who finished 3rd in the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:18.24. The Eagles placed 4th in the distance medley in a time of 5:19.01 with the team of Nunez-Eittreim-Surber-Olson.
South Hamilton girls track returns to action on Thursday, when they compete at the West Marshall Co-ed, beginning at 4:30 PM. Roland-Story girls track return to action on Monday, when they compete at the North Polk Co-ed, beginning at 4:30 PM. Eagle Grove girls track returns to action on Friday, when they compete at the Jim Basye Co-Ed in Hampton, beginning at 4:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track returns to action next Thursday, when they compete in the NCC Girls Meet at Bob Buckley Track in Webster City, beginning at 4:30 PM.
