GARNER, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track and field team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they competed at the Boys Cardinal Relays at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School. The Cowboys were joined by the host Cardinals, as well as Belmond-Klemme, Clear Lake Classical, Lake Mills, North Butler, North Iowa, North Union, Northwood-Kensett, Rockford, West Fork and West Hancock.
CGD would place 9th in the meet with 46 points, as their top individual placers were junior Huxley Lingenfelter and sophomore Armando Melendez. Lingenfelter placed 2nd in the discus with a throw of 141′ 3″, as Melendez placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 39′ 9.75″. The Cowboys sprint medley placed 2nd in a time of 1:43.38 with the team of Downing-Sesker-Hernandez Ordonez-Torsell. Colin Sesker would place 4th in the 100m dash in a season-best time of 11.92 seconds.
