Peterson Contractors of Reinbeck selected for Williams overpass bridge project by the Hamilton County Supervisors

The Hamilton County Supervisors Tuesday morning accepted a bid from Peterson Contractors of Reinbeck through the Iowa Department of Transportation for the Williams overpass bridge project. The work will include the construction of a new bridge to replace the over 90-year-old bridge in northeastern Hamilton County. The bridge is a critical link for motorists, residents, and for emergency responders. Total cost of the work with Peterson Contractors will be at $6,118, 529 . Dates for the construction work will be announced at a later time. The project will make the bridge expand from 20 to 40 feet plus the improvement of sight distance and turning movements for motorists on the bridge

The supervisors approved a three-year contract for the Public Professional Maintenance Employees Union Local 2003. This union represents the Hamilton County secondary road employees. The contract calls for a 3 percent salary increase for members once a year for three years beginning this year. A new contract for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies and staff through the Teamsters union was approved for the next three year period . The members will receive a four percent increase in pay in the first year. There will be a pay increase of 3 percent in years two and three respectively through the Teamsters.  A lease agreement for the parking lot at the Iowa Specialty Webster City clinic was terminated by the supervisors on Tuesday.

There will be a budget amendment hearing set for Tuesday,May 26 at 9:00 a.m. in the Hamilton County Courthouse downstairs conference room. The hearing is for the 2025-26 Fiscal Year. This evening will bring the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget hearing for Hamilton County set for 6:00 p.m in the downstairs conference room of the courthouse.

The date of Thursday,June 25 was announced for the official dedication and opening of the Webster City Gateway Industrial Park located on the southeast side of Webster City at Highways 17 and 20. Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Finance Authority executive director Debi Durham will be a participant in the ceremony with a time to be announced for the June 25th event.
