CLEAR LAKE, Ia. — The Wright County Broncos boys soccer team returned to action on Monday night, as they made the trip into Cerro Gordo County to take on the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Lions Field. Wright County entered at 7-0-2, while Clear Lake entered at 5-0-3.
Defenses ruled early on, but in the 22nd minute, a corner kick from Wright County resulted in errant clear by Clear Lake as the strong northwest wind blew the ball into the net to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead. Clear Lake answered in the 28th minute off a goal from Reece Wharton to tie the game at 1-1 going into halftime. Much of the 2nd half would be scoreless, until CGD senior Anir Akdim answered the call in the 75th minute, scoring to give Wright County a 2-1 lead and the eventual victory.

Wright County boys soccer returns to action on Tuesday evening, when they travel to Webster City to take on the Lynx in North Central Conference action at Lynx Field, beginning at 5:30 PM.
