Webster City girls golf wins conference-opening tri with Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Hampton-Dumont-CAL

GOLDFIELD, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls golf teams returned to action on Friday afternoon, as they competed with Hampton-Dumont-CAL in a North Central Conference tri-meet at Oak Ridge Golf Course.

Webster City emerged as the meet champion, winning with a team score of 217 (+73), as junior Mylie Keller finished as the top placer, finishing 2nd with a 53 (+17). Senior Alleyna Dawson and junior Carli Jessen tied for 3rd with each shooting a 54 (+18), as senior Kenley Koop rounded out scoring by placing 5th and shooting a 56 (+20).

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 2nd in the meet with a team score of 236 (+92), as their top placer was senior Claire Kirstein, who was the meet medalist with a 53 (+17). Blaire Askelsen placed 6th and shot a 58 (+22), sophomore Jada Weets placed 9th and shot a 62 (+26), as senior Tess Wibholm rounded out scoring by tying for 11th and shooting a 63 (+27).

Webster City girls golf returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Grand Junction to take on the Greene County Rams at The Hill Golf Course, beginning at 4 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf returns to action on Monday, as they compete in the Norsemen Girls 18-Hole Tournament in Story City, beginning at 1 PM.
