Webster City boys tennis claws out win over Iowa Falls-Alden, 5-4

WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx boys tennis team returned to action on Friday afternoon, as they hosted the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School.

Friday opened with a victory for the Lynx, as Nathan Wardell won in a sweep in Position 1 by a 2-0 margin (6-4, 6-2), before Sage Bock fell in position 2 by a 2-0 score (5-7, 0-6). Blake Arjes lost in position 3, 2-0 (0-6, 1-6), as Max Anderson lost in position 4 2-0 (0-6, 1-6), but the Lynx would rally to win the final 2 singles matches to make it 3-3 headed to doubles.

In doubles, the duo of Nathan Wardell and Sage Bock won with 2-0 sweep (7-6, 6-1), before Max Anderson and Blake Arjes lost by a 2-0 sweep (2-6, 4-6). Webster City would come away with a victory in the final doubles match to squeak out a 5-4 victory.

Webster City boys tennis returns to action on Monday, when they host the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action, beginning at 4:15 PM.
