CLEVELAND, Oh. — Former South Hamilton prep and Illinois defensive tackle Carter Hewitt accepted an invite to Cleveland Browns minicamp on Sunday, KQWC Radio learned.
Hewitt, a 2021 graduate from South Hamilton, played in 4 games for the Illini in 2025 against Western Illinois, Duke, Purdue and Rutgers, after playing four years at UNI under head coach Mark Farley. Hewitt had 52 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack in his junior campaign at UNI in 2024 and garnered preseason All-MVFC honors in 2024.
At South Hamilton, Hewitt was named third-team all-state defensive line his senior season in 2020, and was first-team All-HOIAC in basketball and baseball as a senior as well. Hewitt also still holds the South Hamilton baseball program record for home runs (9) and RBI (40) in a single season.
