Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Eagle Grove boys golf compete in Algona Golf Tournament on Saturday

ALGONA, Ia. — The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Eagle Grove Eagles golf teams returned to action on Saturday, as they made the trip into Kossuth County to compete in the Algona Golf Tournament at Eagle Hills Golf Course. The Cowboys and Eagles were joined by the host Bulldogs, as well as Belmond-Klemme, Forest City and West Fork.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 5th in the tournament with a team score of 385 (+97), as their top placer was sophomore Teddy Yackle, who tied for 15th and shot an 89 (+17), as senior Tristan Kakacek shot a 92 (+20) and tied for 17th. Sophomore Jacob Ruba shot a 96 (+24) and placed 19th, as freshman Preston Gniadecki placed 24th and shot a 108 (+36) to round out scoring.

Eagle Grove placed 6th in the tournament with a team score of 430 (+142), as their top placer was freshman Eli Derscheid, who placed 22nd and shot a 105 (+33). Sophomore Grayson Chamberlain placed 23rd and shot a 105 (+34), freshman Ryker Asche shot a 110 (+38) and placed 25th, as sophomore Treyton Ingraham rounded out scoring by shooting a 111 (+39) and placing 26th.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys golf returns to action on Monday, when they host Roland-Story for a meet at Oak Ridge Golf Club in Goldfield, beginning at 4 PM. Eagle Grove boys golf returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Britt for a Top of Iowa Conference meet with West Hancock and North Iowa, beginning at 4:15 PM.
