WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles boys track and field teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as Webster City hosted their annual Lynx Boys Invitational at Bob Buckley Track. The Lynx and Eagles were joined by Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden, St. Edmond and Waverly-Shell Rock.
Webster City would place 3rd with a total of 132 points and crowned a handful of meet champions, the first coming in the sprint medley, which won in a time of 1:33.49 with the team of Griffith-Hansen-Stroner-Callahan, which broke the previous meet record by 6 seconds and sits #3 in Iowa all-classes as of Wednesday morning. Justin Callahan then claimed the 400m dash title in a new meet and school-record time of 49.77 seconds. Daniel Murillo would then capture the 800m run title in a time of 2:03.03, before Justin Callahan took home the 400m hurdle title in a time 56.20 seconds. The Lynx then punctuated the night by winning the 4×400 in a season-best time of 3:27.27.

Eagle Grove would place 5th in the meet with a total of 59 points, as the Eagles had a pair of 2nd place finishes, as junior Gavin Pedersen placed 2nd in the discus with a lifetime best throw of 138′ 0″, while Leelan Spencer was 2nd in the 100m dash in a lifetime best time of 11.39 seconds. The Eagles would place 3rd in the 4×200 in a season-best time of 1:36.38 with the team of Thacker-Vasquez-Eisentrager-Spencer, as the 4×100 also placed 3rd in a time of 46.32 with the tea, of Eisentrager-Thacker-Pedersen-Spencer.
Webster City boys track and field returns to action on Friday, when they compete at Pocahontas Boys Meet in Pocahontas beginning at 4:30 PM. Eagle Grove boys track and field returns to action on Thursday, when they compete in the Hackbarth Relays in Algona, beginning at 4:30 PM.
