Webster City, Eagle Grove boys compete at Charlie Bunn Relays in Humboldt on Friday

HUMBOLDT, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles boys track and field teams returned to action on Friday evening, as they made the trip into Humboldt County to compete in the annual Charlie Bunn Relays at Mason Maach Field in Humboldt. The Lynx and Eagles were joined by the host Wildcats, as well as Algona, Emmetsburg, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Pocahontas Area.

Webster City would place 4th with 100 points on Friday, as the Lynx would hold a handful of meet champions, as the Lynx won the sprint medley in a season-best time of 1:35.79 with the quartet of Griffith-Hansen-Stroner-Callahan. Jaxon Griffith then won the 110m high hurdles in a time of 15.44 seconds, as Justin Callahan grabbed the final win in the 400m hurdles in a time of 57.24 seconds. The Lynx did finish with a pair of 2nd place finishes, as Rylan Stroner placed 2nd in the 200m dash in a time of 23.23 seconds, as Gabe Thumma placed 2nd in the 1600m run in a time of 5:09.46.

Eagle Grove placed 6th with 59 points on Friday, as their top placing event was the 4×800, which placed 2nd in a time of 9:13.35 with the team of Waldo Martinez-Gonzalez-Terwilliger-Reyes. The Eagles 4×400 also placed 2nd in a time of 3:44.93 with the team of Eisentrager-Vasquez-Gonzalez-Pedersen, as Hunter Waldo Martinez placed 3rd in the 1600m run in a time of 5:10.92. Gavin Pedersen placed 7th in a loaded discus field with a throw of 127′ 6″.

Webster City boys track and field returns to action on Monday, as they compete in the Southeast Valley Invitational in Gowrie, beginning at 4:30 PM. Eagle Grove boys track and field returns to action on Monday, as they compete in the Dodger Relays at Dodger Stadium in Fort Dodge, beginning at 4:30 PM.
