Webster City girls soccer shuts out Wright County, 3-0

BELMOND, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx and Wright County Broncos girls soccer teams returned to action on Thursday night, as the two programs faced one another in North Central Conference action at Belmond-Klemme High School in Belmond. Webster City entered at 0-1, while Wright County entered at 0-1-1.

Thursday night would belong to Webster City senior Janey Putney, who scored both of the Lynx’s goals in the first half to give Webster City a 2-0 lead. Putney would then complete the hat trick in the 2nd half to give Webster City a 3-0 shutout of the Broncos.

Assists on goals from Webster City came from Heidi Mendoza and Sandra Fuentes-Cruz, while goalkeeper Kate Feltz recorded 3 saves on Thursday.

Webster City girls soccer returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Iowa Falls to take on the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets at Cadet Field with kickoff at 5:30 PM. Wright County girls soccer also returns to action on Friday, when they host (1A) #15 Aplington-Parkersburg at Belmond-Klemme High School, with kickoff at 5:30 PM.
