Eagle Grove basketball splits non-con doubleheader with Central Springs

MANLY, Ia. — The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Friday night, as they made the trip into far northern Iowa to take on the Central Springs Panthers in non-conference action at Central Springs High School.

Eagle Grove’s girls took advantage early, leading the Panthers 10-3 after the first quarter, ballooning that lead to 29-9 at the halftime break. Central Springs would cut into that lead in the 3rd quarter, but Eagle Grove pulled back away in the 4th for a 52-27 win.

Taytum Edwards led the Eagles with 19 points, as Myka Anderson added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists, while Kendra Schild had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The boys game followed as it would be a close first half, as Central Springs led 13-11 after the first quarter and 26-22 at halftime. The Panthers then got separation from the Eagles in the 3rd quarter, before pulling away in the 4th for a 65-49 victory.

Gavin Pedersen had 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 steals to lead the Eagles, as Adrian Whipple added 15 points and 4 assists.

Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Tuesday night, as they host the North Union Warriors in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School with tipoff at 6:15 PM.
