The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip into Northern Kossuth County to take on the North Union Warriors in Top of Iowa West action at Bancroft Memorial Park in Bancroft. Eagle Grove entered at 4-6, while North Union entered at 4-2.
Eagle Grove took the first lead with a run in the 1st to go up 1-0, a lead that ballooned to 5-0 after a 4-run 2nd inning for the Eagles. Eagle Grove would add another run in the 4th to go up 6-0 before North Union got on the board with a run in the bottom of the frame to make it 6-1. The Eagles and Warriors then traded 2 runs each in the 5th to make it 8-3, before Eagle Grove put up 4 runs in the final two innings, countering North Union’s 2 more runs to cap a 12-5 victory.
Syrus Willard had the top day at the plate for the Eagles, going 3-for-5 with 2 singles, a double and 3 RBI. Mack Morgan would go 2-for-4 with a single, a double and 2 RBI, while Jaxon Morris and Talon Carpenter both drove in 2 runs each. Nolan Krauss picked up the win, pitching 6 innings, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) off 9 hits and striking out 10 batters.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Thursday, when they take on Alburnett at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex at 5:30 PM, as a part of the Iowa Central Invitational.
