The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the drive into Northern Kossuth County to take on the North Union Warriors in Top of Iowa West action at Bancroft Memorial Park in Bancroft. Eagle Grove entered at 6-1, while North Union entered at 5-4.
North Union struck first on Wednesday with a run in the bottom of the first to take an initial 1-0 lead. The Warriors then added 3 runs in the 3rd to go up 4-0, a lead that was trimmed to 4-3 after 3-run top of the 4th from Eagle Grove. North Union then blew the game open with 7 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take an 11-3 lead. Eagle Grove did not go quietly, putting up 5 runs in the 6th to cut it to 11-8, but North Union was able to slam the door in the 7th for an 11-8 victory.
Eagle Grove did not have stats available on Bound as of Thursday morning. The Eagles return to action on Friday, when they take on North Iowa in Buffalo Center at 6 PM.
