South Hamilton boys golf competes well at Ames and Iowa Falls

The South Hamilton Hawks boys golf team returned to action on Friday and Saturday, as their Friday meet would be at Ames Golf and Country Club. The Hawks faced off with Gilbert, North Polk and Van Meter.

South Hamilton would place 3rd with a team score of 173 (+29), as their top golfer was junior Landon Sogard, who shot a 40 (+4). Tyler Schachtner would shoot a 43 (+7), Connor Deppe shot a 44 (+8), while Michael Carlson rounded out varsity scoring with a 46 (+10). Luke Martensen and Brody Harris would shoot 47’s (+11) to round out the varsity lineup.

North Polk was the meet champion, shooting 144, or even par, as a team. Gilbert was 2nd with a team score of 147 (+3)

The Hawks followed this up with a trip to Iowa Falls on Saturday to compete in an 18-hole tournament at Highland Golf Club, hosted by Iowa Falls-Alden. They were joined by the Cadets, as well as South Hardin and Carlisle.

South Hamilton placed 2nd with a team score of 348 (+60), as IF-A was the team champion with a 327 (+39). Tyler Schachtner and Luke Martensen brought in the top scores for the Hawks, with both golfers shooting an 84 (+12). Landon Sogard would shoot an 89 (+17), as Michael Carlson rounded out scoring with a 91 (+19). Connor Deppe would shoot a 95 (+23) and Brody Harris shot a 98 (+26) to finish the varsity lineup.

South Hamilton golf returns to action on Monday, when they travel to State Center to compete at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in a 9-hole tournament.
