Eagle Grove wrestling sweeps Manson quad-dual

The Eagle Grove Eagles wrestling team made the trip into Calhoun County on Thursday night, to compete in a quad dual at Manson-Northwest Webster with the Cougars, as well as West Bend-Mallard and West Central Valley.

Eagle Grove started the night by sneaking out a 42-39 win over the host Cougars. The Eagles picked up wins via pin from Hayden Schafer (150), Jayden Kreitlow (175), Jesus Baez (285), Hunter Waldo-Martinez (120), Jackson Babcock (126) and Connor Christopher (144), and saw Cooper Thacker (132) pick up a win by forfeit.

The Eagles then squeaked out a win against West Central Valley by a score of 33-30. Eagle Grove picked up wins via fall from Nelson Rivera (190), Jesus Baez (285), Cooper Thacker (132) and Hayden Schafer (150), while Jayden Kreitlow (175) won an 11-9 decision and Jackson Babcock (126) picked up a win via forfeit.

Eagle Grove ended the night with a dominant 66-18 win over West Bend-Mallard, as the Wolverines only wins came from forfeits at 106, 113 and 215. Eagle Grove saw falls from Hunter Waldo-Martinez (120), Jackson Babcock (126), Cooper Thacker (132), Hayden Schafer (150), Reece Demuth (165), Nelson Rivera (190) and Jesus Baez (285). The Eagles also got forfeit wins for Felix Gonzalez (138), Carter Bjorklund (157) and Jayden Kreitlow (175).

Eagle Grove wrestling returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to Story City for the Jim Kinyon Invitational at Roland-Story High School.
