Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling goes 1-1 in home NCC tri-dual

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling team returned to action on Thursday night, as they competed in a home North Central Conference tri-dual with the Algona Bulldogs and Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School in Clarion.

CGD started the night off against the Bulldogs, one of the favorites in the NCC in 2023-24, and fell to Algona by a score of 50-24. The Cowboys would pick up wins with falls from Abram Wessels (132), Mason Allen (190) and Ashtin Willms (215), while Lucas Ennis won via forfeit at 106. Algona won 7 of the first 8 matches of the dual.

The night ended with the Cowboys facing Iowa Falls-Alden, as the Cowboys took home a 48-30, despite the Cadets taking the first four bouts of the night. CGD picked up pins from Cooper Nosbush (157), Selvin Gonzalez (165), Caleb Seaba (175), Mason Allen (190), and Ashtin Willms (215), while the Cowboys got forfeit wins from Lucas Ennis (106), Angel Cortes (120) and Ryan Hartwig (126).

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling returns to action today, as they compete in the two-day Battle for Waterloo Tournament.
