Webster City girls tennis competes in individual regionals at Decorah

The Webster City Lynx girls tennis team made the long road trip east on Wednesday morning, to compete in their Class 1A, Region 6 tennis singles and doubles tournament at Decorah High School in Decorah. The Lynx were joined by the host Vikings, as well as Aplington-Parkersburg, Charles City, Clear lake, Dike-New Hartford, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Osage and Waverly-Shell Rock.

In the singles tournament, action started with Izzy Feldhaus competing in a play-in match with Dike-New Hartford’s Anna Frahm, as Feldhaus fell in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). Kinzy Koestner would follow against #1 overall seed Adria Neymeyer, and also fell in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).

In the doubles tournament, the duo of Adeline Tesdahl and Allie Severe fell to the duo of Misty Harreld and Izzy Norton from Dike-New Hartford (6-1, 6-3) in the play-in match. All that remained was the duo of Trinity Griffith and Joslin Gourley, as they entered as the #4 seed in the doubles tournament. The duo defeated the team of Hannah Hoffman and Rylee DeBoest in the first round (6-4, 6-0), before being upset in the quarterfinals by the team of Madelyn Norton and Aida Tott from Dike-New Hartford.

Webster City returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to Waterloo to take on Boone in their first round team regional matchup at Byrnes Park Tennis Center.
