The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls track teams made the trip west into Webster County on Thursday evening, to compete in the North Central Conference meet at Dodger Stadium in Fort Dodge. The Lynx and Cowgirls were joined by the host Gaels of St. Edmond, as well as Algona, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt and Iowa Falls-Alden.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows scored a handful of wins in Thursday night’s meet, as Mikayla Beisel would pick up a win in the girls high jump, clearing 5′ 2″, before she followed it up with a win in the 100m hurdles in a time of 16.41, just .02 seconds off her season-best time. Teammate Kennedy Trca placed 2nd in a time of 16.89, and the two helped anchor CGD to a win in the shuttle hurdle relay in a season-best time of 1:10.12 with the team of Beisel-C. Hasty-M. Hasty-Trca.
Webster City would not see any event winners, but saw their highest placers in Cloe Savitski in the 100m dash, placing 5th in a time of 13.42, while also placing 5th in the 200m dash in a time of 27.69. In the field events, freshman Jakaela Cherry placed 5th in the discus with a throw of 90′ 5″, while also placing 6th in the shot put with a throw of 31′ 1″. The Lynx’s 4×100 would also place 4th in a time of 55.53, with the team of Buakham-Roberts-Steuerwald-Mishler.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 5th with 67 points, while Webster City would place 8th with 44.5 points. Clear Lake was the team champion, scoring 163.5 points. Full meet results can be found at Bound.
