Webster City, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys compete in NCC Meet

The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they competed in the annual North Central Conference track meet, hosted at Webster City High School. The Lynx and Cowboys were joined by fellow NCC members Algona, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.

Webster City would see just one winner on Thursday night, as Jaxon Cherry won the boys shot put with a toss of 50′ 8″. Cherry would place runner-up in the discus with a throw of 158′ 4″ as well. Webster City also got season-best times from the Sprint Medley, which placed 4th in a time of 1:37.34, a new school record, with the team of Weinzetl-Estlund-K. Hisler-C. Hisler. Senior CJ Hisler also set a new season-best time in the 200 meter dash, placing 3rd in a time of 22.71, while freshman Carter Mickelson placed 5th in the 1600m run in a time of 4:52, a season-best for him.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would also see just one event winner on the evening, as junior Mason Allen finally got the upper hand on Webster City’s Jaxon Cherry in the discus, with Allen winning on a lifetime-best throw of 159′ 8″. Senior Nevan Foss would also place runner-up in the boys high jump, clearing 5′ 10″.

Three NCC Meet Records were set on Thursday as well, as Hampton-Dumont-CAL set a new conference record in the 4×200 in a time of 1:29.06, breaking the old record of 1:30.88 set by Iowa Falls in 1996. The Bulldogs would follow this up by breaking another Iowa Falls conference record, winning the 4×100 relay in a time of 42.67, shattering the previous record of 43.03 set back in 1996 as well. Finally, Iowa Falls-Alden’s Jaden Damiano would set a new conference record in the 110m high hurdles, with a time of 14.42, breaking the record of Humboldt’s Tyler Dodd, who ran a 14.66 back in 2005.

Webster City would place 5th in the meet with 79 points, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows was 8th with 43 points. Algona was the team champion with 151 points, full meet results can be found on Bound.
