Area teams compete at George Abell Hawkette Relays in Jewell

The South Hamilton Hawks girls track team hosted their home track meet on Tuesday evening, as the Hawks welcome in fellow KQ-area teams in Roland-Story and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, as well as Des Moines Christian and Northwood-Kensett.

South Hamilton would open their day with a win in the shot put, with junior Kendra Hoversten throwing 31′ 5.5″, this would be followed by a win in the Sprint Medley relay in a time of 1:56.16 with the team of Barkerma-Flaugh-Thompson-Erickson. The Hawks would then win the 4×800 relay in a time of 11:07.38 with the team of Northrop-P. Doolittle-Holm-Miller, before following that up with a win in the 4×200 relay in a time of 1:55.52 with the team of Flaugh-Feaker-Scheller-B. Doolittle. Kailyn Northrop would then go on to win the 800 meter run in a time of 2:42.90, before South Hamilton would close their night out with a win in the 4×100 relay in a time of 52.26 with the team of Thompson-Flaugh-Erickson-Barkema.

Roland-Story’s day would open with a win in the long jump with Adalyn Sporleder winning with a mark of 15′ 1.5″, before sophomore Claire Truesdell won the 3000 meter run in a time of 11:35.27. Kamryn Lande then stepped into the spotlight, winning the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.75, moving her into the top 10 of Class 2A in the event. Lande would follow this up with a win in the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.34, also moving her into the top 10 of Class 2A as well. Lauryn Kilstofte would win the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:02.43, before Roland-Story’s night ended with a win in the 4×400 relay in a time of 4:17.90 with the team of Ihle-Lande-Petersen-Kilstofte.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would bring home just one event champion, as Mikayla Beisel won the high jump by clearing 5′ even, Beisel would also place 2nd in the 100 hurdles in a time of 16.41, as well as the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:13.04. Makenna Hasty would place 2nd in the long jump with a mark of 14′ 7″, while Ellie Mewes placed 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 28′ 9.5″, and the shuttle hurdle relay placed 2nd in a time of 1:15.14 with the team of Beisel-C. Hasty-M. Hasty-Trca.

South Hamilton was the team champion with 150 points, Roland-Story placed 2nd with 127 points, and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows placed 5th with 81 points.
