Webster City, Roland-Story boys track compete in Comet Relays

The Webster City Lynx and Roland-Story Norsemen boys track team made the south trip into Polk County on Tuesday afternoon, to compete in the North Polk Boys Comet Relays at North Polk High School in Alleman. The Lynx and Norsemen were joined by the host Comets, as well as Ankeny, Ballard, Creston, Dowling Catholic and Johnston.

Webster City would bring in a pair of event wins, both courtesy of Jaxon Cherry. Cherry won the boys discus with a best throw of 141′ 9″, before winning the 100 meter dash in a season-best time of 10.98 seconds, while also finishing 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 49′ 3″. Webster City would also grab 2nd place in the 4×100 Relay in a season-best time of 43.71 with the team of Weinzetl-Cherry-K. Hisler-C. Hisler.

Roland-Story would pick up a single event win in the distance medley, with a time of 3:42.28 with the team of Lettow-Carpenter-Lande-Greenfield. The Norsemen would also set a new season-best in the 4×400 Relay, placing 2nd in a time of 3:29.43 with the quartet of Lande-Johnson-Greenfield-McIlrath.

Webster City would place 3rd in the meet with 77 points, while Roland-Story placed 7th with 49 points. North Polk was the meet champion with 169.5 points.
