The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and South Hamilton wrestling teams made one final trek north on Tuesday night, to face off with West Hancock and Manson-Northwest Webster at West Hancock High School in Britt.
The Cowboys started off the night with a dual against Manson-Northwest Webster, where CGD picked up a 67-12 win over the Cougars. The match began with 5 straight forfeits, beginning at 145, before the Cougars Brodie Anderson pinned Mason Allen at 195. From there, CGD picked up 4 straight wins at 220, 285, 106 and 113 to essentially clinch the match.
South Hamilton faced off with the host Eagles of West Hancock, and fell by a score of 57-21. The only wins for South Hamilton came courtesy of Brent Greenfield, Keyton Remsburg, and a pair of forfeits for Holden Klein and Landon Stolee.
South Hamilton would then face Manson-Northwest Webster, where they picked up their only win of the night, 36-34. The Hawks got two forfeits to start off, before the Cougars reeled off 3 straight wins before Holden Klein picked up a fall victory at 106. The Cougars would pickup a pair of forfeits, before Keyton Remsburg picked up a fall at 126, to bring the score to 30-18. Ethan Egli had a chance to salvage a tie in the dual, but only picked up a major decision over Braden Young, as the Hawks won the last two weights via forfeit, for a 36-34 win.
CGD would face off with the host Eagles, starting at 152 where Creighton Kelly picked up a major decision over Luke Brownell. The Cowboys would win the next three matches via 2 decisions and a major decision, to take a 10-4 lead. A decision and fall at 195 and 220 gave West Hancock a 13-10 lead, before a Daniel Chavez fall and forfeit at 106 gave CGD a 22-13 lead. The two sides battled back and forth until the final dual, when Cale Kirstein picked up a tech fall over Westin Schmid, to give the Cowboys a 39-31 win.
The Cowboys and Hawks closed their night, facing off with one another, where CGD dominated South Hamilton 63-15. The only wins for South Hamilton came courtesy of a Brent Greenfield decision, a Graham Peters fall and a Holden Klein fall.
Both teams will be entering sectional action on Saturday, as South Hamilton hosts their 1A sectional, while CGD will travel to Estherville-Lincoln Central for their 2A sectional.
