(3A) #10 Roland-Story splits HOIAC tri with Perry and (2A) #7 Woodward-Granger

STORY CITY, Ia. — The Roland-Story Norse volleyball team returned to the court on Thursday Night, as they hosted the Perry Jayettes and Woodward-Granger Hawks for a Heart of Iowa Conference tri at Roland-Story High School. Roland-Story entered at 23-5 and ranked #10 in 3A, Perry entered at 3-24, as Woodward-Granger entered at 21-7 and ranked #7 in 2A.

Roland-Story opened the evening by dominating Perry in straight sets 2-0 with sets of 25-8 and 25-6. Brookelyn Jondle had 8 kills, 3 aces and a block, while Miley Geise had 4 kills and an ace. The Norse then squared off with Woodward-Granger, as the opening set went back-and-forth as the Hawks were able to squeak out a 26-24 win. The Norse would trail throughout much of the 2nd set, but down 3 at the end of the set, Roland-Story rallied to send the match to extra rallies. However, Woodward-Granger had the last push to grab a 29-27 win and a 2-0 upset of the Norse.

The Ace of the Game, presented by Ace Hardware of Webster City, was Roland-Story senior Brookelyn Jondle totaled 19 kills, 4 aces and 3 blocks across the 2 matches.

Roland-Story volleyball returns to action next Thursday, when they travel to Jefferson to take on Greene County and West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Greene County High School at 5 PM, and can be heard on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
