Mason City-A 30-year-old Clarion man faces multiple drug charges after investigators executed a search warrant at his home as part of a narcotics investigation.
Jacob David Peterson was arrested after his residence on Jackson Avenue was searched without incident on September 3, according to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators with the sheriff’s office executed the search warrant at 7:40 a.m. that morning.
Peterson was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of psilocybin mushrooms with intent to deliver and possession of THC extract cartridges with intent to deliver. He also faces three counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Iowa State Patrol arrested Peterson on the charges. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say the case highlights the growing role of source states in the marijuana industry and the movement of marijuana and THC products from states where marijuana is legal into states where it remains illegal. Authorities say these products are being transported across state lines for profit.
