The Iowa State Patrol investigated a head-on collision late Saturday night south of Stanhope on Highway 17 at the Hamilton Boone County line with two people injured in the accident. The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Reportedly a Ford operated by Paulo Mendoza Ponce of Webster City was traveling along the highway when it crossed the centerline and struck a Jeep head-on. Ponce was transported to the Boone County Hospital for treatment of his injuries by the Boone EMS. The driver of the Jeep who is a 17-year-old from Stratford was taken to the Boone County Hospital by the Stratford EMS Department. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
