Ellsworth City Council discuss plans for the Community Gym for the fall and winter season during their meeting this week.

Ellsworth-At their meeting this past Monday evening, the Ellsworth City Council approved the season hiring of Ashley Platte to tear down and set up the gym floor mats for the winter youth sports season until the end of February at a rate of $150 per cycle. The city will approve use of the gym facility by local area youth coaches and teams at a rate of $100 per team, which includes one weekly practice or use for each team. The city will evaluate the rate on a case-by-case basis if teams want additional access or time. The city will control the calendar, and if a private event is booked, it will take priority over practices for that specific day and time. Each team will be required to sign a liability release for use of the property as well as agree to rules and parameters concerning the facility and areas of access. The hours of use will be as follows: 1 p.m. Sunday through 6:30 p.m. Friday of each week, with a blocked off time on Sunday evenings from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. for open gym for the Ellsworth community.

The Ellsworth water plant was tabled until the next meeting later this month. The council accepted the road work quote from Manatts for $90,971 for street work in Ellsworth for projects on Dewitt and Decora Streets. The money would be paid out of Road Use Tax Funds.
