WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — The Webster City Lynx football team opens their home slate on Friday night, as they host a longtime North Central Conference rival in the Clear Lake Lions for non-district action at Lynx Field. Webster City enters with a record of 0-2, while Clear Lake enters at 2-0 and ranked #1 in Class 3A. Webster City leads the all-time series between the two programs 47-27-3 dating back to 1938, as Clear Lake won the 2025 meeting 47-0 at Lions Field.
Clear Lake enters Friday as the #1 team in Class 3A according to the Radio Iowa High School Football Poll, as the Lions have blown out Forest City, followed by a 25-0 shutout of Humboldt in a game where the Lions allowed just 29 yards of total offense. The Clear Lake offense is led by senior quarterback and future South Dakota Coyote Jaxon McIntire, who’s thrown for 376 yards and 5 touchdowns, while rushing for another 100 yards and 2 scores. McIntire’s top targets in the passing game are senior Isaac Brownlee and younger brother Maddon McIntire, who both average over 20 yards per reception and have combined for 3 touchdowns. Senior Drayce Dohlman is the Lions top tailback, rushing for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns, as the Lions offensive line is led by senior Center Davidae Coleman, and two hulking tackles in senior Evan Hanson and sophomore Austin Limbaugh.
Defensively, Clear Lake has done the dirty work with a total of 24.5 TFL through the first two weeks, as a lightning quick defensive line has made noise with the play of seniors Keeton Jeppeson, Drayce Dohlman and Davidae Coleman, who have combined for 14.5 tackles for loss and 3 sacks. Raif Baack leads a veteran linebacking core, leading the Lions in tackles with 11.5 through the first two games. The defensive backfield is talented as well, with Kysen Lamb and Jaxson McIntire leading in tackles, while Maddon McIntire has the Lions lone interception on the year.

Webster City football will look to get rid of the bad taste their week 2 loss to Fort Dodge left, as the offensive line will have to face a smaller, yet quick Clear Lake front seven, while needing to stay ahead of the chains.
