WEBSTER CITY, Ia. — A group of a young, hungry talent for Webster City volleyball in 2025 proved they could belong in the upper-echelon in the conference, placing 2nd behind Humboldt and getting to the regional semifinals for the first time since 2022. With a strong core back, the Lynx appear to be gearing up to try and challenge for their first conference title since 2013.
Front Row
Webster City returns one of the most imposing front lines not only in the North Central Conference, but in all of Class 4A. Junior Evie Davis emerged as a two-way star for the Lynx, becoming one of just 19 players in Iowa to record 100+ blocks in 2025, while also tallying 125 kills. Tristyn Wright returns, as she led the Lynx in kills (282) and attacking efficiency (.197) as one of the NCC’s most versatile offensive players. Avery Poppen provides versatility up front with 82 kills a season ago, as junior Jaylyn Bahrenfuss finished with 105 kills as a sophomore. Kaitlyn Winkler and Briley VanDeer will also see larger roles in the front row in 2026.

It’s been a norm for the past few years for Webster City to reload in the backrow with veteran players who start for one season and graduate. 2026 doesn’t look too dissimilar, as the Lynx will have many new back row players. Names to watch in getting elevated to the varsity level for the first time include juniors Kali Hartnett, Izzy Weinschenk and Breckyn Eide, along with senior Charlee Olson.
