WEBSTER CITY, IA | Van Diest Medical Center is pleased to announce Fawad Zafar, M.D., will be joining the team in VDMC’s Surgery and Specialty Clinic Department, beginning in August.
Dr. Fawad Zafar is a urologist with 30 years of experience in both Urology and General Surgery. He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree from King Edward Medical College; the first year of his residency was completed at Mayo Hospital, his second year from Sheikh Zayed Hospital, and a clinical externship from Watford Hospital in England. Following extensive training in Urology and Surgery in the United Kingdom, Dr. Zafar completed fellowship training in Endourology and Lithotripsy at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
His clinical experience includes practice in Urology and General Surgery at Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa, with current outreach clinics in multiple rural Critical Access Hospitals in Iowa. Dr. Zafar is in private practice based out of West Des Moines; he also provides services at Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.
Dr. Zafar will see patients on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month in our Specialty Clinic Department, beginning August 13. He offers a full spectrum of diagnostic services that include the care and treatment of male and female urinary incontinence, urinary tract infections, kidney, ureter and bladder stones, elevated PSA, blood in urine, erectile dysfunction, male infertility, and cancer of the kidney, prostate and/or bladder. Dr. Zafar will be performing procedures in the Surgery Department at VDMC.
