Two pickups were damaged in an accident at midafternoon last Friday,July 17th in rural Webster County in the westbound lane of Highway 20 and Baxter Avenue. The Iowa State Patrol reported a northbound 2019 model GMC Sierra pickup truck operated by Steven L. Zierke of Barnum entered the controlled crossover onto westbound Highway 20 without stopping. A westbound 2013 Ram driven by Larry Sterrett of Rockwell City collided head on with the Zierke pickup in the outside lane of Highway 20. Both of the vehicles rotated and came to rest at the intersection with County Road P-29. Both drivers escaped injury in Friday’s crash. Damage to the Sterrett pickup was totaled in the accident with the damage to the Zierke pickup estimated at $8000.The Webster County Sheriff’s Department cited Steven Zierke for Operating While Intoxicate and Iowa State Patrol trooper Neil Morenz cited Zierke for Failure to Obey the Stop Sign and Yield the Right of Way.
